Clara is our four year old daughter who has been on the ketogenic diet since the fall of 2010. Since Clara was almost three when we started the diet, I remember it being really hard to find the right snacks for her. To make matters worse, her preschool had hands-on snack table every day, which really challenged me to be creative and come up with snacks that are as close as possible to what her friends were eating since I didn’t want Clara to feel left out.
Nothing fancy, but some fun recipes to satisfy those little toddlers that just want to eat something similar to their siblings and friends… and yes, it’s the fruit loops in a kebob stick that Clara has in this picture… her eyes just brightened up when she saw these in the morning, which was all worth those hours i spent in the middle of the night trying to figure out this recipe.
I do use a lot of low carb diet products that are now available due to the popular atkins diet. Some of them are not allowed for some patients under the ketogenic diet, so please check with your dietitian before trying any new ingredients.
